Patch Remedy running when it was not scheduled

Post by LHChris »

I currently do not have Patch Remedy scheduled to run on anything, I had a previous ticket for upgrades not running when I scheduled them viewtopic.php?t=6457.

I went to the tab on client/location level as well as tools>patch remedy and this specific computer, client, or location did not have any checkboxes checked. Script history shows that it did run:

P4A Patch Remedy Automation Information 3/30/2025 2:42:59 PM -05:00

View Log:

Installing All updates Results -> [X ComputerName Result KB Size Title

Reboot is required, but do it manually.

I have disabled the plugin so that it won't run again when I don't want it to, but is there some other place to check that updates through patch remedy are enabled?

Can you please upload a picture of the agent view controls.

Example:

These settings are the true settings for any agent. Any manipulation at the client level can be undone per agent by changing these settings here.

These settings act in the opsite manor to the Client settings. In this control, checked boxes disable the agent from that service.

If your agent does not look like the above agents settings then PR in some manor is enabled for agent. Enabling Patch Remedy Scans will not produce any changes to agents. The (PR) Auto Updates seems to be unchecked as that is the service that runs updates for you.

If you want to reset your client to on or off for any of these settings, then at the client view toggle the current setting off, the on, then set it to the desired setting (off or on). This will correct any agent not currently set to how the client is set. You can at any time enable one or more agents, even though the client is set otherwise. Think of the client setting as the default for new agents onbarding and at the time of change a master reset for current agents.

See if that resolves the issue your seeing.

Also just a note,

The last two options "Defer Updates" and "Winodws Auto Updates" are Microsoft functions set by the registery. These controls updates the registery and nothing more. So if you want to prevent Windows from updating it's self you can select to disable these services, otherwise they can be left as they are set in Windows by default.

I deactivated the plugin so I can't get a screenshot anymore.

All the checkboxes were empty before I deactivated it though.

Then that was your issue, You did not have the client or agent fully set on or off for "(PR) Auto Updates"

Toggling this at the client level will force a reset of all agents under client to the new settings and will disable Patch Remedy Updates. (PR) Auto Updates

I would however enable Patch Remedy Scans, This is a passive scan that captures current agent statuses and will allow Patch Remedy to display correct and accurate data about each agent.
