Using Patch Remedy Update Service.

Post by Cubert »

Patch remedy can help automate your patching in a timely manor.
The key word here is Automate. Patch Remedy is designed to make sure patching is happening and to report accurately the status of each agent under your management. You can manage each client individually. Have Patch Remedy scan all clients to see how ConnectWise Automate is doing with patching. Turn on Patch Remedy patching for a client and allow for it to get through one or two patch cycles. Compare the patch percentages of this client against the majority and see if patch conversion rates are higher for this client.

Patch Remedy can be used to execute patch installs on agents through two different means.

#1 Manual Update - (Update Agent/Client button) Depending on the current view this button will execute the install process for all known available patches for the given agent.

#2 Automate Updates - (Schedule Updates button) This will launch the scheduler for the automation. You are provided with to options. Weekly or Monthly.

Scheduler

When using the scheduler you need to know what view you are in. If you are view client data as a whole then the scheduler will schedule all agents under client. If you are looking at the agent view then the scheduler only effects the one agent.

This allows you to set the mass of agents as needed then fine tune the agents that may need a different schedule.

You can view the status of the schedule and its last execution by viewing the data in the Update fields.

How do we handle reboots?

When we execute the updates we pass along the NoReboot option. This causes Windows to wait for a manual reboot and will flag agent as pending reboot. If a user chooses to reboot their system, the updates will continue and complete during the reboot process. Once the agent has rebooted and Patch Remedy has had a chance to scan agent again, the new statuses of agent will be reported.

Using the Manual Update Button
When selecting to update an agent or client you will be presented with an option to choose what type of update you want to perform.
