Setup Office365 for Automate as a registered application on office365.com

Post by Cubert »

Currently, the MSOL Events relies on accessing messages using the REST API and Application level access permissions set in the Office365 Management console on Office365.com

Here is a PDF that walks you through the entire process of setting up a client in Officed365 for Automate

Here is how-to create the Client ID and Secret ID access for the Automate plugin to work at collecting MSOL events. You will need to login to your Office365.com portal account to preform the following tasks.

You will be registering the Office365 for Automate plugin as an application with access to content inside Office365.com

You will receive from Microsoft 3 key items needed in the plugin,
  1. Client ID
  • Tenant ID
  • Client Secret (Value)
You will uses this information in the plugins settings for adding a data collector as seen in image below. The Client ID, Secret and tenant ID are per data collector (Managed Client).

Once you created the permissions and added them to Office365 for Automate you can quickly test the access to see if all is working well by opening a configured client in the plugin. You will need to have followed the above client configurations before attempting to use MSOL.

Then selecting the MSOL Status tab followed by selection the Check MSOL button on the MSOL Status Tab. This will force a check of the MSOL Events and should return data as seen below if successful.
