Habitat PatchMatic Windows KB Patch Manager

Post by Cubert »

The Habitat PatchMatic Windows KB Patch Manager Tool

Automate's Patch Manager does not have the options for out of band patching (patches not detected by existing agents or some Microsoft Optional patches). PatchMatic provides a means to distribute these uncommon patches and hotfixes across different versions of Windows while using policy based configurations.

Distribute any KB for any Version to any agents easily.

First you will need to turn on the PatchMatic Service. The PatchMatic Automated services allows you to control the Automated installer and scan services. This will shutdown all PatchMatic services

Next you will need to add KBs to your Library. The PatchMatic Library is used to store the KBs you want to deploy and is configured by KB number and OS Version. You will need to supply the 32 bit and 64 bit URLs for each KB along with the OS version that it applies to.

You manage PatchMatic policies and view statuses at the client console. Each KB policy that you create will cover one KB version and OS version for a single location. Any agent under that location that has been enabled from the status view will install the KB based on the schedule defined.

The PatchMatic Client Console - (Status Tab) is used to enable and disable agents for automated patching and to view current status of agents KB patching. The status indicators are a Green check showing all patches are applied from policy, a red X to show missing patches and a yellow triangle for disable agents.

The PatchMatic Client Console - (Config Tab) allows you to select different KB and OS versions and set a schedule for installs as agents OS versions become available at a per location configuration.
