Getting data rolling with Surflog
Once you have the Surflog plugin installed as described in our How to install plugins
There is a master on/off switch to enable the Surflog engine and master scan intervals. This control is located under the main Automate Tools menu and is called Surflog Enable. You will need to enable the master switch and then bump scan interval to 1 hour intervals to speed up the first collections. Then return it to a more reasonable 12 or 24 hour scan time afterwards. If this control is off all scanning will stop across all clients.
Each client is enabled separately from the master on/off switch. Visit each client console and select configure to enable that client for scanning. Each client has an enable switch and retention setting in the Config Settings. Make sure it is saving correctly for you by reopening the configurations after saving to see if setting remained.
Allow the scanning period to pass and watch the Surflog plugin automation logs on Automate server at C:\Program Files\LabTech\Logs\plugin_Surflog.txt Based on cycle you may see entries every hour to once every 24 hours based on cycle set in Global enable.
Look for Surflog to schedule scripts to scan for logs on “online agents”. The count here may fluctuate regularly as systems come online or go offline during a scan cycle.
Once you get a couple of logs that scan have been sent you should have data for client.
Post here if you have any issues by placing a copy of the logs after upgrade if you do not get data within 24 hours.
