P4A has added an updated version of their popular LUM plugin into Habitat.

LUM or Linux Update Manager is a plugin designed to manage the patching process of the OS and applications installed on Linux systems that support either YUM, Apt-Get or Zypper. RedHat Linux, CentOS Linux, Debian Linux, Ubuntu Linux and OpenSUSE Linux patching has been left behind in the world of ConnectWise Automate but Plugins4Automate has a solution for you.

New feature added for Debian Style Linux distributions

Apt-Get is used to update the core packages installed on Ubuntu but it does not update kernel packages with the standard upgrade commands. In the past Linux admins were very sketchy to update kernels via automation incase something went wrong so we removed the action during our upgrade process. Linux has matured to a level that stability and operation of major distributions is pretty much expected now. We have had requests to add this back in as a controlled feature are adding apt-get dist-upgrade back into Debian Style Linux management inside the plugin.

All systems that use Apt-Get will now have a new optional checkbox to Allow Distro Updates . This control adds the dist-upgrade command to the update all function. This function is used in automated updates and in the button to update all packages inside the plugin.

You can select this feature on a per agent bases making kernel updates an agent by agent choice.

This feature requires a reboot of the Linux system to complete updates. This reboot is automated and will happen after the updates are successfully installed.

We added a new feature in build 1.0.1.26 of Habitat that adds a control to manage when Linux updates happen globally.

Available options are:

Daily at 12 AM,
Weekly (pic a day) at 12 am
Monthly(pic a day) at 12 am.

This will be the schedule default for all Linux systems across Automate when Auto Updates are enabled.

Is it possible to have a feature added where we can Export the list of updates? Some of our clients would like that info and right now our only option is to screenshot everything.

That is possible. I'll look at it and see what I can do.
