Habitat build 1.01.1

Post by Cubert »

Good Day All,

We are about to release a major update to Habitat which includes some new items and fixes. There is enough changes in Habitat that we figured it was about time to roll over the version to the next major release.

What can you expect to see?

To start off with we have update the look just a bit so that the application stays more consistent across all tools. We shrank the logo down and created smaller app headers to reduce space and footprint.

Next we updated several tools to get better service from them including PatchMatic, HostFile Manager, Application Manager, MS safety scanner, Printer Status, etc.

We have a major update to Application Manager o.k.a 3rd Party App Manager. The new and improved Application Manager changes how we deal with Chocolatey and application deployments. This tool no longer operates as it once did so you will need to read up on how it works and what is needed to function correctly. The Application Manager now uses Location caching to control the amount of traffic going the the Chocolatey public repos. You assign an agent at any given location the job of caching agent. The caching agents job is to make sure the local cache drive is kept up to date with the packages that location is deploying. All other agents get their application updates from this cache location. This new process has completely stopped all the limiting experienced by the Chocolatey public network rate limiting and blocking locations with excessive repo requests. This greatly improves deployments and reduces network bottlenecks.

We are going to place this update here to allow you to update on your own for the next few weeks as we need to see the new updates in the wild before we push it as an automated update.

This update will cause us to rewrite and update pretty much all of our documentation and sales portal plugin information as the look has changed. We will be taking the next week or so to do this prior to pushing it out over automation. If you have any questions in the mean time post them here.

If you download and update your Habitat to 1.0.1.1, remember to turn off Auto Updates from the Automation manager tool. This will prevent Habitat from trying to redeploy 1.0.0.80 as this will remain the current build until we announce Habitat 1.0.1.1 as the new published build. (after documentation is updated)

Once we release it to sales portal you can turn back on auto updates .
