Habitat is coming....

Post by Cubert »

We are working hard on a new plugin to help assist MSPs in management of their Automate environment. This plugin is expected to encompass many different tool sets and sub plugins to assist the MSP in delivering full scale services to its clients and tools to help maintain the MSP environment.

Some of what you can expect to see inside the new plugin.

1) Google Drive File Manager with ability to script file links direct from database!

2) 2nd generation Windows Upgrade Assistant that integrates with Google Drive

3) Automate Database Maintenance Services

4) Several integrated plugins from our library (Paid and free)

5) Automate Server Logs Viewer.

The idea behind Habitat is to allow it to be a vessel for an ever evolving plugin in search of holes to fill in the Automate framework. A place for those little things you wish Automate could do but doesn't!

This means we need ideas from MSPs like you! What are your pain points and what do you think would help solve that problem for you? We want to know.

Automate the Stalled Agent detector so that it auto self heals agents through CWC instead of it being a manual process.

Windows Update - seems a hell of alot of work to integrate google drive when it would be way simplier to just add a web link to the ISO on the LT server or dropbox, etc. Thats all I do for existing scripts. Dropbox, change the share link to dl=0 to dl=1 and direct download works...

There is other Google drive integration plans in the future outside of the Windows update agent services. The automation of stalled agents is on my list for habitat. Many other pieces will come over the next several months.

Man are you in luck! we happen to now be in a more robust plugin now which will allow for such things.

As of Habitat 1.0.0.17 you have a new set of features.

#1 on the stalled agents main view you can now set an agent ID to be the preverbal workhorse to reset any offline agent during the normal Stalled agents detector script scans.

#2 There is a new "Plugin Server script function" in the Automate scripting that will allow you to create scripts that use this function to restart any agent via CWC.

#3 We updated the Stalled agent detector script to look for this ID to be set and if so will use that agent to restart the other agents offline less than 24 hours. After 24 hours we skip that offline agent.

If you have Habitat installed it should auto update at 12 AM or so and when you relaunch your consoles it will show latest version. Else if you need Habitat see forum post "Calling Beta testers"
