Build 1.0.3.4 released

Post by Cubert »

We have released the next build of Backup Windows for LabTech
Build 1.0.3.4
https://delivery.shopifyapps.com/-/7078 ... cbec68ca6c

We added a new feature, retention policies for multiple volume backups!! :D

We have found that as you allow windows to continue to add Shadow volumes to a backup that the time to scan backups increase. When systems get to a point that Shadows volume data exceeds the limits of LabTech to deliver the data in a single attempt the backups stop reporting the backup dates in the plugin as the SQL query to update the data blows up(missing parts due to LT limits). So to keep this from happening the total number of allowed volumes should not reach a number that causes the failure. The fewer volumes to scan for the quicker the scan can complete. If the scan is forced to scan for hundreds of volumes on a single PC it could cause scanner to work for days trying to complete the scan. This retention policy is to address this issue by forcing a max volumes per PC allowed to be held on the backup target. 15 to 30 days is good and 90 days is max. Systems seen with 250 or more volumes per PC will cause issues with scanner completing on time.

This setting only affects Multiple Shadow Volume Backups
